PROHIBITIONISTS WANT MEADS FOR GOVERNOR

Oakland Teacher Will Represent Party at Polls

OAKLAND, June 30. — S. P. Meads, principal of the Cole grammar school, will be the prohibition candidate for governor at the coming state election. This announcement was made today by James P. Wortendyke, state chairman of the party.

Professor Meads has been one of the most active prohibitionists in the state for many years and has been prominent in Alameda county campaigns. The Meads family is now on a vacation at Ukiah. Friends of the nominee are satisfied that he will take up the fight.
