BACK ENTRANCES.

A Class of Saloons "Where Girls are J^ed to Ruin. Chief of Police Rodgers and Captain Bradley made a tour of observation of the •women's entrance saloons last night. They were not bent on a raid, but merely ■wished to inform themselves as to the character of persons that visit such places, ! therefore no arrests were made. The oincers, however, saw enough to satisfy themselves that there are a num- | ber of young women who are "going to the dogs" in consequence of these places, end it is quite probable that something will be done to check the evil. Officers will probably be instructed henceforth to report the names of women detected in visiting these back-entrance tlives, uearly all of which were found to be supplied with private boxes, the latter being "furnished" in a most suggestive auanuer. It would cause a commotion in many families, if not in the community, if the names were published of young women ■who are in the habit of visiting these places with male escorts.
