_________ The New York Herald's Washington correspondent circulates numerous reports of dissensions in the Cabinet, difficulties existing between Messrs. Many and Soule, the uneasiness of Cushing, and the tribulation of President Pierce ; but we should not be willing to endorse all these rumors and declarations of difficulties. Wheat. —Colonel Jerome C. Davis, of Yolo county, has at present sir thousand bushels of splendid wheat in his possession, all of which was grown during the last season on Putah Creek. His mills at present are only grinding sufficient to supply home consumption. Mori Opposition. —The San Joaquin Republican states that the " Southern Miners Steamboat Association '' is to put the steamer Wallamet on the route between San Francisco and Stockton in opposition to the California Steam Navigation Company. Dedication.The church of Rev. Mr. Hill, at Grass Valley, was dedicated on last Sabbath. The dedicatory sermon was preached by Elder Daniels, of San Jose. The church cost $4,000. The congregation is free from debt. Destructive Fire at New Orleans.—On the evening of December 27th, the Mechanics' Institute at New Orleans, was entirely destroyed by fire. The Medical College adjoining the Institute was saved. Loss $150,000. San Francisco Custom House —This edifice : will cost our venerable Uncle Sam quite a snug little sum before it is completed. The cost of the foundation alone was $250,000. But $400,000 has been appropriated to its construction. Lyceum.—There is a debating society established at Daylor's Rancho, which holds meetings at suited intervals for the discussion of various questions of public interest. The Drought. — The grass throughout the county of Yolo is parched and scant, owing to the continued scarcity of water. A week's drenching rain would improve it vastly. Sierra and Yuba Turnpike Road —The Citizen publishes a long list of subscribers to the Sierra and Yuba Turnpike road. The sum of $26,100 has already been subscribed. New- Post Office.—A Post office has been recently established at Forest City, and Col. Henry appointed Postmaster.
