CARRIGER WILL CONTEST.

A former Verdict; In tho Case Set Aside. Santa Bos v, June.—Tho verdict In the celebrated Carriger will contest case has been set aside by Judge Crawford, on the ground that the evidence was insufficient to warrant it. Nearly a year ago Boggs Carriger shot and killed his brother, William, at the latter's home, near Sonoma. A few days after the tragedy William's brother, Solomon, filed Willlam'a will for probate. It disposed of about $12,000 worth of property, and cut William's widow, Kate Carriger, off without a dollar. Mrs. Carriger contested the will on the ground that Boggs had exercised undue influence over William when tho latter made his will, inducing him to ignore her claims for recognition. The jury found a verdict for the widow, finding that Boggs, by representations to William damaging to his wife, had induced him to leave her out of the bequests. Boggs was then tried and found guilty of murder in the second degree, but owing to an error was granted a new trial and acquitted. A large number of Sonoma people were drawn into the various trials. and much bitterness has been shown by the warring factions.
