It Certainly Was Lucky

This is a story I heard about a dainty little woman whose husband is one of the American members of the Anglo-Saxon commission now sitting here. When lirst -lo- saw Washington she was 4 or S years old. There weren't any colored people in her home town and she was very much impressed with the multitude of dusky faces she saw here. "Were all these black people born here?" she asked her mother mice upon a day.

"Yes, dear." was the answer. The child seemed lost in thought for a few moments. Then she looked up:

"My!" she said, "but wasn't it lucky sister was born white!"— Washington Post.
