Auble and Mason Remember Report, but Other Members of Board For. get Occurrence — Tries to Get Saloon License Revoked

The police commission is In a quandary over the mysterious disappearance of a report mude by Chief Auble concerning the Liberty saloon, corner San Pedro and Commercial streets, which he claims is conducted In a disorderly manner. In this report the chief advocated the revocation of the license. But' the report has disappeared and no member of the police commission can remember that such a report was ever presented, with the single exception of Commissioner Mason. Mason had no difficulty In recalling the report. Neither had Chief Auble. The chief was positive that he had presented the report and Commissioner Mason was equally certain that the commission had considered It. in executive session. It may have been the suddenness with which Commissioner Mason brought out In open meeting the closely guarded treasure of the executive sessions that confused the minds of the other membere of the board. Cleric McKeag stammered a little . when Mr. Mason directed a question and a searching glance In his direction, but answered that -he' had Ust seen It in th« hands of the commissioners. Mayor McAleer was a little fidgety about th* juoposl-

tlon. Couldn't seem to remember it at all and the blankness of Commissioner James' mind on the. subject was equaled only by his nervous manner in declaring that ho didn't know such a tiling existed.

Commissioner Mason, however, harped en the subject, to the evident discomfiture of the board until he succeeded in inducing the commission to have the chief make another report and have tho proprietor of the saloon cited to appear before the board to show cause why his license should not be revoked.
