For Robbery.

John Carroll has been arrested by officers Sullivan ami McCormack for robbery. Last Friday night a man who gave the name of McClusky, but whose real name is Thomas (iillespie, was found drunk at Front and I 3treets and looked up. On Saturday the officer noticed that one of the pockets of his pants had been cut out, and inquired if he knew who did it and when; it was done. He replied that an individual whom he knew only as "Red" cut the pocket out in a saloon Friday evening and took his money; but when he remonstrated and started out to look for an officer, he was called back and "Red' gave the pocket and money to the barkeeper, who returned the property lo its owner. Officers Sullivan and McCormack went out with Gillespie and were shown the saloon where the atltiir occurred, and subsequently, after quite a humt, they arrested "Red," or Carroll, at a place on Front street. Boat Thieves.— On Friday Cal Perkins, who resides near Klkhorn ranch, on the Yolo side of the river, came to the city and informed the police that some one had stolen a boat and two pairs of oars from his place. The telegraph was called into requisition and messages sent down the river to head the thieves off. Saturday evening a dispatch was received from P. Hanson, of Wainut Grove, statin); that he had found the boat and arrested three men who were in it. Answer was returned, requesting him to bring them to the city. Yesterday morning he arrived here on the steamer with the boat and one of the men. named Win. Davis, but the other two jumped from the steamer and escaped when she touched at Gannon's Landing, live miles above Counland, on the way up. Davis will have a hearing before Justice Scully, <>f Washington, to-day. 'Inn Weather. — Sergeant Barwick reports that the highest and lowest Signal Service temperature at Sacramento Saturday and yesterday was 100* and 6l)° and HrJ 3 aivl 04°. witu light to gentle northerly winds during the middle ot the day, and fresh southerly winds at night. Yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock the thermometer stood at ]0u 3 , which was the hottest at that hour since the hot day of last month, the Hth. when it stood at 108" at i r. m , and had been to 105°. This summer so far has piven more days with a temperature reaching 100° and beyond thin is usual for this vicinity. There have been six days with such a temperature. At 7 o'clock last night the temperature was 'Jo°. Important Meeting. — The Reception and Invitation Committee of the G. A. It. reception is to meet to-night at the Golden Eagie Hotel parlor at 8 sharp time. All •citizens who received postal card 9on the suhj.ot of the last meeting, last Monday, are requested to consider the words of urgency therein repeated for this occasion.
