A Flefuutut Sort of Se».

The power of the surf is a thing nlicmi which many of us have but the most hazy ideas, aud indeed tho ordinary conditions with which wo are suiI'ounded prevent uh from fully appreciating what it can bo at times. Tho people of the island of Chiucoteague, which is about a mile aud a half wide, have, however, opportunities for judging this experience, which they must liud tho reverse of pleasant. On its eastern side and between it and tin ocean is Assateaguo island, which is also v mile and a half wide, but tho power with which the waves come is so great that at Homo places the surf sweeps entirely over both islands. — Londou .Standard.
