A Pioneer Joins The Majority.

Palmer N. Peck, a well-known citizen of Volcano, passed away to his long home at his residence in that town on Sunday last. He was born in New York. Dec. 23, 1831, and was 79 years and 5 months old at the time of his death. He came to California in 1853. first settling in San Bernardino, and afterward moving to San Joaquin county, and from thence to Tuolumne county, where he engaged in mining. He next came to Amador, and engaged in mining in Volcano basin about 1880, and has remained a resident of that town ever since. He was a single man, upright and conscientious in all his dealings, and respected by all who knew him. He was buried in the Volcano cemetery on Tuesday, tne remains being followed to the grave by many who had known him long, and esteemed him for the sterling qualities ne possessed.
