Mrs P. Sorocco and family and Miss Addie Miller, left Sutter Creek Thursday of last week, to spend a month or six weeks at Pacific Grove. Mrs F. Hammack is enjoying a visit in San Francisco with her daughters and family, who reside there. Mr and Mrs B. Davis of the Eureka hotel were passengers en route to San Francisco last Tuesday morning, to be absent about ten days. Mrs tiohn Radditz and daughters, Minnie and Carrie Radditz, returned from San Francisco last Sunday, where they have been for five weeks. Miss Carrie was receiving medical attention, and returned home very much benefited. Our postmaster, Frank Payne, went about with a very happy smiling coun-

Miss Mary Trenaman arrived here from Stockton Wednesday evening, to spend her vacation with relatives and old school friends. Mrs Elizabeth Davis and little daughter returned to Berkeley last Saturday, and her mother, Mrs Brignole left Tuesday morning to join her dauhgter at Berkeley, when • a few days later both expect to take the steamer for San Diego, and enjoy a few weeks in that part of the state. C. R. Downs and mother, Mrs G. - Downs and Miss G. Jacobs, started out early last Tuesday morning in their big auto.en route to Tahoe, for a week's recreation. Mrs Bayliss C. Clark and two children, accompanied by Miss Emma Waechter.'Jeft Sutter Thursday morning for Tahoe, to remain during the month of August. Mrs J. Truran left Tuesday for San Francisco, to visit her granddaughter, Mrs F. W. Morrish. Mr and Mrs Wm. McGee left Sutter Creek last Saturday, enroute for a pleasure trip to Alaska. The officers of Excelsior Rehekah lodge No. 64, I. O. O. F., were installed last Saturday, by D. D. president, Mrs Emma Wright of Jackson, assisted by Mrs Angove of Jackson as grand marshal and Mrs Janette Lehrnann of Excelsior lode as grand warden, each officer doing their work in an efficient manner. The Odd Fellows of Sutter Creek lodge were presennt, refreshments served by Mesdames I ena Berta, Sausmon and Higgins in a charming manner, which were greatly enjoyed, and a genial and social evening was spent. Officers installed were: Lena Berta, noble grand; E. Sausmon, vice grand ; Janette . Lehmann, chaplian; Elizabeth Jones, conductor; Lena Higgins, warden: Minnie Engleston, O. guard ; Sadie Gorman, I. guard; L. S. to N. G.. Nellie Orchard; right and left supporters to vice grand, Janie Gillick and Annie Norton. The retiring noble grand, Mrs Ella George, was presented with a jewel in behalf of the order by Mrs E. Jones.
