18-year-old killed in gang incident

An 18-year-old East Los Angeles man was shot to death Saturday night in what police described as a gang-related incident, Hollenbeck Division detectives reported Victor’ Ramirez was standing on the sidewalk near the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and Concord Street about 10:30 p.m. talking with friends when four suspects approached the group, detectives said. Witnesses told police that

one of ths suspects asked Ramirez where he was from. Then one of the suspects produced what appeared to be a rifle and fired two shots. One bullet struck Ramirez in the head. Detectives said Ramirez died about half an hour after the shooting at County-USC Medical Center. The investigation was being conducted by the L.A.P.D.'s CRASH unit which investigates gangrelated crime.
