Suspect Sought in Shooting Near 110 Public's help sought in fatal shooting of homeless man, 52, found near 110 in Highland Park Police are asking for the public's help locating a suspect or suspects responsible for fatally shooting a homeless man found near the 110 Freeway in Highland Park. A LAPD spokesperson said 52-year-old Ruben Castaneda stepped out of a homeless makeshift tent located off of the northbound 110 freeway near the Avenue 60 on ramp at around 5 p.m. April 22. Investigators say Castaneda was shot multiple times with an unknown caliber handgun by an unknown suspect or suspects. Correction and Clarification. "Principal Velasco Out at Eagle Rock High School", page 1, April 2014 Mr. Velasco was the principal at Eagle Rock High School not Franklin High School as stated. Also, Ms. Arleen Schery assures us that she will not be seeking employment, other than returning to the classroom. In addition, it was the Los Angeles Police Department, the Sheriffs' Department, and the City Attorney's office which found the allegations against her to be un-ac-tionable, ridiculous, and laughable. No charges were filed against Ms. Schery with any law enforcement agencies. In the school district however the allegations have been used to remover her from the classroom. My apologies for any confusion these errors may have caused. - Nina Zvaleko
