SUNDAY AT TENT CITY An Immense Crowd Crossed the Bay Yesterday Afternoon, A Concert Filled With Good Numbers Notes and Personals. Hotel del Coronado, Aug. 10. It is all very well to talk about weekend celebrations, but if ever a week was socially properly begun at Coronado, this is the one. There was the concert Sunday afternoon, launch and sailing parties, dinner entertainments, basket picnic suppers, beside the surf, fishing bees, plunge parties, pier gatherings, bowling parties, etc. And today finds everybody in camp up and doing. Some folks will have to take a second vacation to rest up after their jolly camp life. ONE WOMAN'S WORK. Miss Harriet Baldwin spent yesterday at Coronado, a luncheon guest at the hiotel. Miss Baldwin has but recently returned from another business trip to tropical Mexico, where she went to purchase Mexican goods for several Southern California dealers. She was the first woman on the Pacific coast, therefore in the United States, to undertake the particular line of work in which she has succeeded so admirably. In October she starts upon another six weeks trip to Colima, San Blas, Mazatlan and other port towns. AMONG HOTEL ARRIVALS. S. M. Saltmarsh, Capt. Truman Cole, Los Angeles; Dr. Hermer, E. B. A dance is to be given in the Hotel del Coronado ballroom Wednesday evening under the auspices of the men of Company B, of the San Diego barracks, for the visiting guardsmen of the Seventh regiment. MANY VIEWED THEM. The dress parade drill given by the men of the Seventh regiment between five and six o'clock yesterday afternoon on the library plaza was witnessed by hundreds of San Diegans who had been at Tent City for the afternoon, as well as the majority of the residents of the resort. CONCERT NOTES. An audience which would have been large for any city gathered at the pavilion plaza yesterday afternoon to listen to the concert by the Tent City band. The programme given was well worth the effort made to hear it by the hundreds of people who crossed the bay or came from National City and nearby vicinities. Continued on page 3.
