Childhood Sweethearts' Ed and Doris Weinecke to Celebrate 50 Years Together

Childhood sweethearts Ed Wienecke and his wife, Doris, will celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary June 14. The Wieneckes were reared in Baltimore, MD. “As a matter of fact,” Mrs. Wienecke said, “he took me to the junior and senior proms.” They were married in their home town when she was 19 and he was 21.

Ed and Doris Weinecke The Wieneckes plan to make the ensuing 12 months their “Golden Year.” They have just returned from a trip to visit friends in Florida where Wienecke was graduated from the University of Florida School of Law. They also have arranged journeys to Las Vegas and Hawaii. Wienecke, Coronado’s City Clerk, is a retired Air Force officer and former military judge. The couple have two children, Gary and Christine, and two grandchildren.

Mary Wardrop of Coronado was crowned All-American Sweetheart at the California State Beauty Pageant on Sunday, May 5. She also competed for the title of Little Miss California and won first runner-up in that division in this, her second competition. In September, Mary won first place in a San Diego competition making her eligible for the state finals.
