Coronado’s Little League Teams Battle For Mid-Season Leads

Little League The action is heating up for the Coronado Little League as all teams of the divisions are battling for the mid season lead. In spirited Tee Ball play, the Tough Tigers out lasted the Purple Terminators by an 18-15 score. The Tigers showed excellent defease in the game as Dwight Moyer and Albert Bartz lead the team. Steven Feffer hit for the cycle during the game to give the Tigers the win. The Red Eagles and the Blue Dolphins also had an offensive showdown with the Eagles coming away a 19-10 winner. Casey Conrad and Jamie Consadine combined for some great fielding for the Eagles as Brian Ball, Charlie Homer and Andrew Chance also had solid games for the Eagles.

The Blue Bombers and the Blue Angels combined for perhaps the most thrilling Tee Ball game of the young season as the Bombers beat the Angels 16-13. The Bombers Jack Kelley hit a grand slam homerun as the Bombers also combined for a triple play in the game. For the Angels, Malt Prochnow and Francisco Delaconcha had solid defensive games with two double plays. The Angels also had some hot hitting from Jeff Ellis and Tyler Rainville. The Caps Division has also seen some excellent baseball played. The Coronado Cardinals were upset by the A’s 12-8. Zachary Larson smacked a homerun as Ryan Freel, Matt McKee and Lee Carpenter had outstanding games. In other action from the division, The Chainsaws downed the Blue Dodgers 20-

13. Jake Garcia and John Ridsby hit homeruns as Barrett Adams, Alex Brown, Mark Garcia and Jeff Markel played flawlessly for the team. The Coronado Blue Rippers beat Chevron 22-9 in the Caps Division as Dougie Mann hit two homeruns and Sean Mynster robbed a homerun for their teams. The Rippers were lead defensively for the game by Robert Levacy, Jim Russo and Grant Hamor. Coronado’s Minor League has also had some excellent games played. The Phillies beat the Knights of Columbus 13-6 in an offensive display for the teams. Carl Butler and Mike Willis lit up the scoreboard for the Phillies as Butler smacked a grand-slam and Willis had an important homerun in the game.

Morgners and Reudi’s ended their matchup with Morgners coming away a 33-14 winner. Kyle Koop, Brian Metzler and Patrick Tugend all had homeruns for the game as Reudi’s lost to number one Morgener’s. Also in Minor League action, American Asphalt beat C.P.O.A. 14-13 in a very close game. Bailey Hakes hit 4 RBl’s for the game as Andrew Schmidt, Scott Stanley and Ryan Pulyers all had strong games. The closest game for the Major League saw the VFW Giants edge out the Lions Cubs for a hard fought 2-1 win. Bo Blumenthal had a solid outing on the mound for the Cubs as Luke Suna drove in the teams lone run in the sixth and last inning.
