Henry Chapman Alexander Passes Away, Responsible For Improved Bradley Field

Bom July 18,1915 in Tillatoba, Ms. Died June 27,1992 in San Diego, CA. He was the last of seven brothers and one sister. All of them served in the military during World War 11. Henry retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 20 years in 1961. He first came to Coronado to work at the Hotel Del Coronado in 1937. He had worked with the Civil Conservation Corp earlier that year building roads in Death Valley. A couple of years after Henry’s military

retirement he returned to Coronado and the Hotel where he worked as a purchasing agent. Henry was at the 50th, 75, and 100th Anniversary's of the Hotel. He was also a Deacon and Elder at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. Henry looked out his front window at a Bradley Field Little League Park that needed tender loving care. At first he removed the trash and tumbleweed. Eventually the city and he were able to bring the park to its beautiful state. His

front yard with roses received much acclaim over the years. He is survived by his wife, Lillian C. of Coronado. They has just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Henry had a daughter Gayle Alexander Lorenc and son-in-law Gary Lorenc of Encinitas. His son James Henry and daughter-in-law Janet Blair Alexander of Porterville, Ca. survive him. Henry also had 3 grandchildren Audeen, Adam, Ashley. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity.
