Two Strategists Joins Jarvis Campaign For 49th Congressional District

Two top political strategists have joined Judy Jarvis in her campaign for the 49th Congressional District seat.

They are Michael D. Meyers, who will be the media strategist, and Martin R. Wilson, general consultant.

Meyers worked on Governor Pete Wilson’s successful campaign and on former Governor George Duekmejian’s

successful bids for the statehouse. He also was involved in the 1988 Bush/ Quayle campaign. Wilson, no relation to the Governor, was minority staff director for the Senate Republican Caucus and held top management positions in both of Wilson’s successful Senate campaigns. He was political director of the 1990 Pete Wilson for Governor campaign. Ms. Jarvis also has named 26 honorary co-chairpersons, including former Congressman Clair Burgener, former San Diego City Councilman Bill Cleator; Gordon Luce, president of the former Great American Bank; Mike Alessio, owner of Mr. A’s; Anne Evans, owners of the Bahai and Catamaran Resort Hotels; Barry Shilliot, assistant secretary of defense under President Nixon, and Bettie Kujawa of Coronado, a member of the San Diego County Republican Central Committee. The 21 members of the Jarvis steering committee include Dan Larsen, a San Diego Port Commissioner; Tony Zappardino, owner of Top of the Cove in La Jolla, and others who have been politically active. “The people who have volunteered their time to support me, represent the leadership of San Diego’s business, professional, military and political communities,” Ms. Jarvis said. “I am gratified to have such strong support, and I look forward to receiving their advice and counsel through the course of the campaign.” Other Jarvis campaign officials are John Weil, campaign manager; Annette McDonald, executive director; Gloria Ellis of Del Cerro, volunteer coordinator; Diane Levine of Tierrasanta, precinct coordinator, and Jeannette Roache, wife of Sheriff Jim Roache, fund raiser.
