Odiorne Addresses Civil Engineer Group

Speaking before the American Society of Civil Engineers at the Grosvenor Inn in Point Loma last week, former city councilman Robert Odiome drew on years of firsthand experience in the construction of the San Diego- Coronado Bay Bridge. One of only a dozen long water-span-ning bridges in the state, the local bridge is unique in its design and construction.

Odiome, who held the position of Planning and Construction Department Head for the city of Coronado from 1964 to 1978, documented every step of the construction through photographs and notes. To illustrate his talk, he showed approximately 65 slides of the bridge, which was completed in 1969, and recently celebrated its 25th Birthday.
