Coronado High School Holds Its Junior/Senior Prom Fashion Show

by Jeanne Danis

Prom night fashions will be short and sparkling if last week’s Coronado High School fashion show is any indicator. In a sprightly produced formal, 22 high-stepping models showed oft evening wear available for rental at Gary s tux shops and One Night Affair gown shops.

All but three of the gowns were above-the-knee and sleeveless, with either halter tops or spaghetti straps. Three were floorlength. All sparkled and flashed with beading and sequins. For the men, the fashions were more eclectic, with styles ranging from tailcoats with black tie to more standard dinnerjacket tuxes with cummerbunds. Most of the dinner jackets were black, but a creamy brocade jacket and a white jacket were also shown. Vests, both plain and fancy, were predominant in the men’s fashions. Coronado High School musicians accompanied the models routines with sassy dance music, and outside the school auditorium, stretch limousines, from Presidential Limousine Service, were wrapped around the intersection. To outfit the celebrants for the JuniorSenior prom May 28 at the La Jolla Marriott and deliver them in a limousine will cost a heap of change.

For the men, tuxes rent from $39.95 to $69.95, depending on the style. This includes coat, trousers, shirt, cuff links and cummerbund. For the women, One Nite Only gown rentals range from $45 to $ 135. The stretch limousines have a threehour minimum, and Presidential Limousine rents a 6-passenger for $5O per hour, 8passenger for $65 per hour, and the big 0passenger stretch for $75 per hour. Models featured in the fashion show were Cheree Anderson, Lionel Beltran, Brian Bent, Whitney Benzian, Ashley Campbell and Erin Campbell. Also showing fashions were Rebecca Denton, Arin Fernandez, Michelle Fincannon, Frank Garcia, Genai Kerr, Amy Klinker, Frank LaPointe, Chanel Luley, Patrick Loerch and Paul Maglonzo-Coo-per.

Rounding out the group were Amanda McPhail, Sarah Schneider, Lucas Smart, Adrian White and Coronado Police Detective Eric Hima whoescorted Jaime Harrison. Miss Coronado, The production also featured Andy Tay-

lor and Greg DeJesus and as masters of ceremonies and it was directed by Ray Oliveira. Mr. Oliveira’s Retail Merchandising Program produced the event, and Jennifer Brown, Chris Strong and Lori Sovich were ushers.
