Local Businesswoman To Run In Marathon

On June 22, Coronado massage therapist Cheri Paquin will be attempting her first marathon in Anchorage, Alaska. Her efforts are

part of a nation-wide fund-raiser of the Leukemia Society. Each participant of the marathon is required to raise approximately $3,000 for the Leukemia Society in exchange for coaching and group support six months prior to the marathon.

Additionally, each participant is introduced to a Leukemia patient and runs the marathon in honor of that patient. Paquin said that this helps the marathon participants understand more about leukemia and how the disease affects the families involved. Paquin is also planning a local fund-raiser for the Leukemia Society. She is organizing a party May 25, from 8 to 12 midnight, at Tivoli Italian Restaurant and Pizza. The eatery is located at the comer of Sixth Avenue and Island Street in

San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. The party will have a 1970 s theme, and will include a version of “The Dating Game”. The winners will receive date packages involving Coronado establishments, such as a Sunday brunch, an afternoon bike ride, and a refreshing massage; or a dinner and a play, with espresso to top off the night. Paquin said that she wanted to promote Coronado’s businesses with this fund-raiser, as well as raise money for the Leukemia Society. “It’s important to promote Coronado’s abundant activities to the greater San Diego population,”

she said. For more information or to make a donation to the Leukemia Society, contact Paquin at 435-9119 or 435-9166.
