PATT’s Bazooka Blowout Is A Blast For All Coronado!

Dear Editor, It you were at Village Elementary on Thursday evening, June 6, you witnessed an exceptional display of community involvement and a whole lot of fun at our year end party. The Bazooka Blowout. In addition to the PATT (Parents and Teachers Together) board members, teachers, and countless other volunteers, 1 would like to thank some special people that made this party such a success. First, our district maintenace man, Jim Palmer, who set up and took down all the tables, chairs, etc., ad did it all with a smile on his face. He has helped us pull off a number of activities at the school. Joe DeLaurentis of Flamingo Lawn Care picked up and delivered three barrels of ice furnished by the Hotel Del to cool all the sodas. Danny Panzoid, manger of Pizza Hut, who once again agreed to sell pizza and donate part of his profits. John Church, owner of the

Ferry Landing Hot Dog Card, who sold a whole lot of hot dogs, popcorn and pretzels. Tom Ogar, owner of Dairy Queen, who never fails tojump in and help our school. He not only helped with the Blowout, but with our jog-a-thon last month. We also had countless gift certificates donated for our hoola-hoop contest: Domino’s Pizza, Sound Waves, The California Yogurt Co., Emerald City Surf-n-Sport, Mike’s Bikes 11, BaskinRobbins 31 Flavors, Dairy Queen, Seaport Village, “Broadway Flying Horses,” San Diego Padres, and San Diego Sports Arena. Also, I would like to thank Rick Chapman of Cafe 1134, who all during the school year, has donated countless carafes of coffee, cups and whatever else we needed to put together board meetings, principal coffees, etc. You cannot run a meeting without coffee, and it runs especially smooth with his.

The Bazooka Blowout was a perfect end to a wonderful school year. No place else is the display of community participation more evident than at Village Elementary, not only at fun things like the blowout, but all year long. On any given day, countless Moms, Dads, Grandparents and community members are “putting in their time” in our classrooms, making an incredible difference in our children’s all-around education. It is a real joy to be part of a “team” so focused on the well-being of our kids. The only said thing about the end of this school year, is that PATT will lose JoAnn Loucao, Courtney McGowen, Kelly Nelson and Mandy Truesdale to the Middle School PTO. We will miss you very much! Thank you all for a wonderful year and I’m looking forward to the next one.
