During the week leading up to April 29, Coronado Police made 13 arrests (6 for driving under the influence) and citizens reported 31 incidents. ARRESTS:April 17 • A 16-year-old male student was detained at 4:15 pm on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with minors under 14 (ages 3-11) in a private residence during the previous six months. April 19 • A 40-year-old metal sheet worker at NAS NI, was arrested at 11:50 am for driving his 1976 green Cadillac Seville under the influence of alcohol and drugs at 700 Orange Ave. April 21 • A 48-year-old Chula Vista man was arrested at 7:27 pm near a building in the Naval Amphibious Base on suspicion of driving his 1985 maroon Mustang under the influence. Police reported the suspect showed great remorse, exhibiting mood swings and crying. April 23 • A 35-year-old Navy man was arrested at 300 I Avenue at 1:15 am on suspicion of driving a 1992 white Jeep Wrangler under the influence. April 26 • A 32-year-old female manager of a San Diego art gallery was arrested in the

800 block of C Avenue on suspicion of driving her 1991 red Geo Storm under the influence at 9:05 pm. • A 21-year-old sailor, wearing an 8-ball tattoo on his shoulder, was arrested in the 200 block of Ocean Avenue at 11:58 pm on suspicion of driving his 1985 blue Volkswagen Cabriolet under the influence. April 27 • At 12:50 am, a 12-year-old male student was detained on suspicion of curfew-violation in the 1000 block of First Street. • In response to a citizen’s report, a 32-year-old San Diego man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting $93 worth of miscellaneous food and beer at 10:11 am before making off in his 1995 Volkswagen Jetta. April 28 • A 45-year-old Chula Vista electrician was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in a 1982 red Chevrolet Dura at 2200 Strand Way at 2:17 am. • A 28-year-old female bookkeeper from San Diego was arrested at 10:51 pm on suspicion of driving her 1990 brown Honda Accord under the influence in the 200 block of Alameda Boulevard. • A 35-year-old art dealer, owner of a La Jolla gallery, was arrested by

Coronado Police on an outstanding warrant and later charged with two counts of passing worthless checks, valued at $4,500, to a Coronado artist. REPORTS:April 6 • Two local merchants reported the passing of fraudulent travelers checks at The Landing. Tesorasde Mexico reported an unknown suspect purchased a ceramic parrot and necklace valued at $6O and received $l4O in change. Southwestern Indian Den reported a suspect purchased two turquoise stones valued at $26.88 and made off with $173.12 in change. April 19 • Sportsfishing equipment and navigational aids, valued at $2,100, were reported missing from a boat at a Kingston Court dock in Coronado Cays sometime during the previous month. April 22 • The owner of a 1988 gray 4-door Toyota Camry reported it missing from its parking place in the 800 block of B Avenue, sometime before 8 am. April 26 • A 17-year-old male reported he was the victim of a strong-arm robbery at 1:20 pm in the Spreckel’s Park men’s room. Robbed of a $7O Uniden personal pager, the victim also received a black eye. He was transported to an area hospital and released. April 27 • Sporting equipment and tools, valued at $B,OOO was reported missing from a garage in St. Christopher’s Lane, Coronado Cays sometime during the previous weekend. April 29 • More than $ 1,000 worth of jewelry was reported missing from a bathroom jewelry drawer at a residence in the 1100 block of Isabella sometime during the

previous weekend. CORRECTION:- • In the April 2 edition of the Coronado Eagle, a suspect detained on suspicion for being underthe influenceof a controlled substance was quoted as replying, “Not Done,” to a query about whether he understood his rights. In actuality, the statement supplied by the arresting police officer reflected the fact that the suspect had not been advised of his rights. The Eagle regrets the error.
