Coronado To Host Jump Rope Showcase

The 4th Annual “Southern California Open” Jump Rope Showcase; 19 teams will perform on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 pm in the high school gymnasium. [ Seventh Street and “E” Avenue.] Two hundred and thirty jumpers will participate from 12 states. A parade of athletes will begin at 9 am and competition will end at 3 pm, with awards being announced. There will be eight different events, with all 230 athletes to compete in at least one event, giving them a chance to prepare for the USA Jump Rope Competition in June and AAU Junior Olympics in August. Professional judges will be flown in

from West Virginia and Texas, and Optimist Club members and other volunteers will assist in staffing the competition. The performance is open to the public and tickets are $3 each. Team members will perform individually as well as in pairs and groups. This event is sponsored by the Coronado Speed Spinners, Coronado’s competitive jump rope team, which is recognized as one of the country’s most accomplished jump rope teams.
