More Opportunities for the Farmer.

Tiik Castor Bean.—The growing of tbe Castor Beau we have urged in our late numbers, and its importance is a source of revenue to our State We have tl *en peins to ascertain the quantity of Castor Oil sold iv California annually, and find that it is about eight thousand gallons. One H ,use alcne sells from four thousand to live thousand gallons, and when it shall be introduced as our own manufactures, ten, fifteen, or even twenty thousand gallons will be consumed, for it is one of the best Oils for machinery, and as manufacturing is on tbe rapid increase, so will be the demand for lubricating oils. It is also valuable for oiling harness, and leather generally. Bui this is not all we can export it to New York and to England. The average price in New York is about $1 a gallon. The crop of Castor Beans that could be raised here is enormous, and we advise Farmers to try it Mis yur, and be prepared for wiiat is in the future. Flax-Shu.—Another article that should be grow n largely, and *< are glad to kuow that many acres will be sown this year. We shall soon have this Seed converted into Oil, snd thus save another article of import. Farmers must keep these articlei steadily in view. "Better times arc coming.
