By this means we can lay before them the progress of Agricultuie In tho ir former homes, and thus advanco tho interest ol both Atlantic and Pacific States. Clerk and Assistant Wanted. Ws want an active intelligent business clerk in our office. We want a person who has a knowledge, to some extent, of agriculture, horticulture, the science of botany, and the seed business. A man of correct habits, and willing to give his time to business, closely; a young man free from incumbrances on his time so that he can apply himself to business wholly. A knowledge of the languages would be desirable, and of mineralogy, also. Application only to be made between the hours of 4 and I p. m., and by none wbo cannot give the best of references. Having established large and spacious Reading Rooms, in this city, which contain Libraries, Cabinets, and hundreds of Newspapers, all free to those who wish to enjoy the benefits thereof, we now ask cooperation from all Agricultural Associations in the Old States and Europe, for the Exchange of Seeds, Specimens, Books, Etc. We shall be happy to reciprocate any and all favors, and comply with any direction made to us connected with such an enterprise. Times of Holding Fairs for 1864. The following are the times appointed for holding Fair's the present year, by the Agricultural and Mechanical Societies of California, so far as we have obtained them : San Joaquin District —At Sockton, commencing September 13, and continuing four days. Mechanic's Fair —will commence in this city, August 30, and probably continue as long as the interest is maintained.
