SUCCESS WITH SUGAR CANE.

The following Report of success in the growing the Sugar Cane, we find in the Sauta Barbara Prttt of April 20th, of last year :

Captain Maykew's Sandwich Island upland sug ai cane is growing well. He haa soiiu two hundred and tifty plants which are sending up fine canes. Krerjt ling now indicates that this pant will flourish here in perfection, and prove to be an important addition to our resources. Ol a branch two leet long, tror. a f uui year old almond tree on Captain Maykew's place, of the Langue doc variety which has been kindly handed ua, we find forty-five Ualf-growu uuts, and the limb is only about an average of tbe tree. This tree will probably bear euht pounds of nuts tbis year, worth at least two dollars. He has othrr trees that will bear more.

[We publish the above in the hope of hearing how grea was Mr. Maybe*'a success iv 1874. Tois year tbe success will be much greater than the last.

Undoubtedly the Sugar Cane and ulso the Almoud and many other Nuts and Choice Fruit*, aa Oranges, Lemona, and many of our loreigu Nuts can be successfully grown in all localities as fa vorable aa Santa Barbara,—Ed F.l
