What might have been a very serious accident was narrowly averted in Tent City on Sunday afternoon. An auto was coining up llth street slowly, and another, driven by a resident of Tent City, was coining down Main street at about 25 miles an hour. The driver of the speeding car, when he saw the imminence of the collision seemed to lost* his head, and turned his machine into a tent, in which a party of five were seated. There was a general scattering of those in the tent, one man starting to go out under the rail, and being assisted by the auto, which bumped him in the rear and sent him along about twenty feet. The rest of the party was uninjured, and those in the auto were unhurt. Postmaster Robbins little boy had been playing in front of the tent five minutes before this hapjiened, s and had gone inside for some “bread n-but ter n-sugar-on” else he would have no doubt been killed. It is to be hoped that the management of Tent City w ill enforce the rule of “12 miles an hour,” notice of which is posted at the entrance to the resort, so that accidents may be avoided this summer.
