A delightful surprise birthday party was tendered Miss Hazel Avery, one of Coronado’s most popular teachers, at the home of Mrs. Jackson. 474' D avenue, Tuesday evening, May 4. Friends to the number of 30 gathered and made merry with rnilsic and games until a late hour. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served by the hostess. An immense birthday cake occupied the center of the ■- table ornamented witpi 22 candles.. AU circled around the table and sang birthday songs, after which Miss Avery succeeded in blowing out all .the candles at one blow. The guests left wishing the charmig recipient ndbiy more such happy birthdays.
