It Wont Roll Off.

The egg of the guillemot is one of the mffst peculiar and furnishes an admirable example of the way in which nature provides for tho conditions ■of life. This bird is found on the coast, and the eggs are usually laid on the bare edges of high rocks, from which position any ordinary specimen of the egg would probably roll off. But the guillemot’s egg won't do this. It has been fashioned by nature to stop on. The egg is nearly conical in shape, broad at the base and sharp at the point, so that it will only roll in a circle.
