The Monday bridge Club, composed of young Navy wives, enjoyed a festive occasion on Christmas eve, when they were hostesses to their husbands and “all the lonely bachelors they could find”, at a progressive dinner. The first course was served at the home of Lieutenant and Mrs. Stephen Dougherty. Mrs. Dougherty was assisted by Mrs. Carter, wife of the famous “Nick” Carter, and Mrs. Allen Mullinix were at home for the second courseThe party wouryl up at the very attractive home of Lieutenant and Mrs. Harold R. Brookman on Tenth Street. Numerous favors were dispensed during the evening. Dancing and games made midnight approach all too soo soon. Those enjoying the club’s hospitality were: Messrs. Carter, Brookman, Mullinix, Old, Dougherty, Jackson, Farrell, Pace, Hunt, Flecher, Forrestel, Threshie, Gray, Captain Osbourne, Captain Field.
