High School Notes

Coronado lost their first football game by a score of 14 to 13. Sweetwater made their winning kick about three minutes before the end of the game. The team will play Grossmont at Grossmont, Friday and we hope they have better luck. The Girls Athletic club gave 4 dance Friday the twelfth-in the Grammar School auditorium. The music v.as improved by the addition of Marwood Ronald and his saxaphone. The Junior pins have arrived and there is some discussion as to whether they are prettier than the Seniors. Their pins are in the shape of a shield with a crown and 1924 in gold numerals. The merit system has been adopted and will perhaps keep the students from being absent or tardy as they will receive a merit for not being absent and one for not being tardy to school or class- Seven merits are required to be excused from the examinations. A meeting of the C club of the High School was held Wednesday, October 17th. The purpose was to elect officers and start the club in fuM swing. The officers for the year of 1923-24 who were elected are Harry Hurt, president; Elden Dilley, vicepresident and Albert Newcombe, secretary and treasurer. Although the club is'handicapped by, lack of sufficient mertibers they are planning to make a big success of it this year. Hazel Marvin.
