Howard Israel Killed At North Island Bridge

One of the saddest accidents in the nistory of Coronado occurred last Monday afternoon at 2:35, when Howard Israel, fourteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Israel of 224 Orange Avenue was electrocuted by coming in contact with the high voltage wires on the bridge leading to Nortli Island. The J«ad was playing with several other boys under the bridge when, in some unexplained manner his hands came in contact with the wire, the terrible current inflicted what was, in all probability, instant death. Both of young Israel’s hands were severely burned and his body dropped into the water. It was rescued almost immediately by Harrison D. Bolton of the North Island medical department and Dr. Robert Henderson, naval physician worked for more than two hours in an attempt to revive the spark of life but failed. At the inquest, which Coroner Keliy held at 10 a. m., Tuesday at Bradfey & Woolman’s undertaking parlors in San Diego, the boys who were with Israel when he met his death were unable to give any details of how the accident happened, except that he clutched the wires running underneath the bridge and then dropped into the water. It was the cries off his playmate? that brought Mr. Bolton to the rescue, altho too late. The boys were violating regulations jy going under the bridge, the coroner said, but probably did not realize that they were in danger there, i Funeral services were held Thursday at Bradley & Woolman’s chapel, Ban Diego, Chaplain McGuire officiating and interment was made 'at Mount Hope Cemeter.
