Ranking Officers Change Commands

Major changes in commands and high positions have taken place this past week. Vice Admiral Thomas L. Sprague, Commander Air Force, Pacific Fleet, who also has been in command of the First Fleet since the recent departure of Vice Admiral Calvin T. Durgin, turned over command of the First Fleet to Vice Admiral Harold M. Martin Thursday in ceremonies aboard the escort carrier Badoeng Strait. Rear Admiral William G. Tomlinson assumer command of Carrier Division Three from Rear Admiral John M. Hoskins who has in turn assumed command of Pacific Division. Military Air Transport Service with headquarters at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu. Comdr. Donald M. White relieved Lt. Comdr. N. E. Heft as operations officer at the Naval Air Station. Lt. Comdr. Heft has been acting operations officer since the recent transfer of Comdr. Guest to NAS Executive .Officer. Before leaving for the' east coast, Captain Paul Dudley, former aide to the assistant secretary of the Navy in Washington? assumed command of the 27,000 ton carrier Leyte, replacing Capt. T. V. Sisson, who will report for duty to the Chief of Naval Operations'in Washington.
