BUTTE COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY AN INTERESTING MEETING HELD AT OFFICE OF DR. MENQ ON SATURDAY EVE. Ask Senator and Aaaamblyman to Oppoaa Change In Stata Law —Officer. Elected for the Eneuing Term.

The regular monthly meeting of the Butte County Medical Society was held at the office of Dr. J. D. Meng Saturday evening and was one of much Interest to those in attendance. In addition to the set program of the evening, considerable other business came up for action which included the election of officers for the ensuing term. Those present were Drs. Qatchell, Hull. Meng, Musgrove, Johnson and Moulton. In accordance with the program a very interesting paper was read by Dr. Meng on "The Proper Administration of Anaesthetics,” which was very favorably received and led up to quite an extended discussion along the lines suggested. It being the last meeting of the year, officers were elected for the ensuing term, as follows: Dr. Ella Qatchell. president; L. Q. Thompson of Qridley, vice president; D. H. Moulton, secre-tary-treasurer; T. B. Reardan of Oroville, J. D. Meng and L. C. Perdue of Chico, board of censors; O. Stansbury, delegate to the State Medical Society. The matter of a proposed change in the State medical law, which is being agitated in certain circles in San Francisco, a draft of which has been’ extensively circulated throughout the State, came up for consideration, and it was decided that the secretary be instructed to notify the Senator and Assemblyman from this district that the Butte County Medical Society Is ån favor of the law as it now stands, and to urge those officers tö use all honorable means Jo prevent a repeal of the same. At the last meeting of the State Medical Society, that body passed a resolution against the insertion in the State Medical Journal or the National Medical Journal of advertisements of secret remedies. The local society endorsed the action of the State society. A committee was appointed to assist the Sisters of Charity In several ways suggested by them in the establishment and maintenance of the new Sisters’ Hospital. The society will meet again on the second Saturday of next January.
