LOOK TO FUTURE As Sol and Fay Lesser move into their 62nd year of marital happiness and call it "Spring of 62" they are looking ahead to many more happy seasons of togetherness

Janis Linebarger Weds Jack Eyler

Palm Springs Community Church was the setting for the spring wedding of Janis Kay Linebarger, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Charles Kenneth Linebarger of Cathedral City, and Jack Douglas Eyler, son of Mr, and Mrs, Jack Arthur Eyler of Desert Hot Springs. The Rev. Michael Smith read the double ring ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride came to her bridegroom wearing a while wedding gown of organza and Chantilly lace designed with a high neckline, long sleeves and decorated with lace leaf appliques and seed pearls. The skirt extended into a chapel length train. A small daisy appliqued Camelot cap held her three tiered fingertip length veiling of lace edged organza and she carried a cascading bouquet of roses and ivy. Karen Kibby attended as the maid of honor wearing a floor length gown of pale green chiffon trimmed with Venitian lace complemented by a pale green hat with ribbons. She carried a nosegay of chartreuse carnations and white baby’s breath. Cindy Kibby, attired identically as the maid of honor, was the bridesmaid. The bridegroom selected David Northington as his best man and Tim Eyler, brother of the bridegroom, seated the guests. Following the ceremony the

couple was honored with a reception in the home of the bridegroom’s parents. Decorations were green and white streamers with green and white wedding bells. A three-tiered wedding cake repeating the bride's colors was served to the 150-plus guests. Newly married Mrs. Eyler is a 1974 graduate of Palm Springs High School and now a student at College of the Desert where she is majoring in journalism. Her husband is a 1973 graduate of Bellflower High School, attended Cypress Junior College and is now a COD student majoring in photo-journalism. Upon their return from a wedding trip to Big Bear Mountains, the newlyweds are now residing in Rancho Mirage. He is employed in Palm Springs as a supervisor for the Daily Enterprise. Special guests at the wedding included the bride's grandparents, Mrs. Ella Brown of Chattanooga, Tenn., Luther Linebarger of Philadelphia and Thenia Linebarger of West Rossville, Ga. Also attending were the grandparents of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Avery Eyler, Mrs. Lureene Eyler of Paramount, Mrs Linus Leffingwell of Apple Valley and his 85-year-old great aunt, Mrs. Grace Singer of Lucerne Valley.

Sol And Fay Lesser Celebrate 62nd Anniversary

By LISA LARSON TURNER Desert Living Editor “Spring of 62” was the theme for the 62nd wedding anniversary celebration of Sol and Fay Lesser of Palm Springs and Los Angeles. This couple, affectionately billed as “Hollywood's first family,” celebrated with four generations of family gathered for a candlelight and champagne occasion at “Cloud 15,” the, Lessers’ penthouse in Wilshire Terrace. Home was w here the Lessers wanted to be this “Spring of

62" where the hostess could arrange pink dove place cards among peach blossom boughs. Steuben crystal and family fledglings. Self-assured. aggressive young Sol Lesser wooed the former Fay Grunauer of San Francisco for four years and signed her to a long-term marriage contract in 1913. He had owned and operated his own motion picture theater since 1907 and by the 1950s had 117 feature pictures to his producer credits including "Our

Town,” “Oliver Twist" that starred Lon Chaney and Jackie Coogan, "Stage Door Canteen" and seven Tarzan films. He co-founded West Coast Theaters which developed into a chain of 175 holdings. Fay and Sol Lesser share a love of beautiful things and are surrounded by a connoisseur collection of objets d’art, but niches are reserved for their most prized possessions pictures of their two children, the Julian Lessers and the Michel Fasmans, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two Oscars: one for "Kon Tiki"

and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. How does a movie tycoon retire to the wings'* Impatiently pushing aside 85, Sol Lesser is full-time into a community script and playing his role to the hilt. Currently he is working toward a master’s degree preparing a scholarly paper for University of Southern California, "The Disciplines of Film Making.” He has been adjunct professor at USC for seven years and is committed to the future of his profession having just completed an 11-point plan entitled. “The Dynamic New

Face of the Motion Picture Exhibitor,” World famous and glamorous personalities have played a role in the Lessers’ personal life Einstein. Chaplin, Pickford, writers, kings, and presidents but it is easy to see that the leading lady is diminutive, modest Fay and they view their 62 years as a team. “We look at marriage as a sharing experience and long ago came to a mutual decision," say the Lessers. "Dining alone, traveling alone, seeing a play alone, even meeting responsibilities alone

was not contentment,” they continued. “We don't know how one ever gets this kind of sharing, other than in a marriage. Anything else for us would be too transient." Their eyes met in agreement. The Lessers don't indulge in sermonizing the Liberated Generation, but the way husband Sol Lesser says, “My wife," is the best possible endorsement for that old-fash-ioned institution called matrimony. As they move through the “Spring of 62." you can see they have plans for many more seasons together
