PROMINENT SWISS KILLS HIMSELF BY SHOOTING Robbed and Swindled of Hundreds He Takes His Life

SALINAS, Cal., May I.—Benjamin Lanini, a well-known member of the Swiss coloney here, committed suicide this morning with a revolver. About four months ago he was assaulted in front of his residence, beaten on the head with a stone and robbed of over $200. A few weeks later he was swindled out of several hundred dollars.
