The Storm— Painful Rumor — letter from Governor Low— Trial for Murder— Advices from China — Government Vessels— Sales of Stocks.

San Francisco, December 20th. The storm, which subsided almost totally last night, set in again with renewed violence toward morning ami has continued unabated all day, the rain pouring down nearly all the time. The ferry steamers have been compelled to nearly suspend trips on account of the force of the wind, which shifts about constantly from southeast to south-west and back, blowing from no single point long." The operator at Point Lobos reports the bar rougher than he has seen it before for years, and no vessels are clearing or arriving. We hear of vessels running into ports south of here lor protection, and the storm seems to be equally violent all along the coast and far into the interior southward?. Business is almost totally suspended in the city. A painful rumor prevailed all day that the Del None, from Eumboldt, had foundered north of the Heads, and toward nightfall ii was positively asserted that she had struck the rocks at Point Lobos and gone down, with every soul on board. She is overdue, and doubtless safe in Humboldt Bay. United States Consul Francis, from Victoria, went on board the Shubrick at North Beach, this morning, and a gun was fired as he came ashore, and it is conjectured that the report of a steamer being in distress, culminating in the account of the loss of the Del Norte, originated in this incident. The damace to the Pacific Mail Company's new wharf is found to be less than first reported. Governor Low has written a letter to Consul Godoy acknowledging the receipt of hid communication on the condition of auuirs in Mexico and the triumph of the Liberal aims, and assuring him of his ardent sympathy, in common with the people of California, with the Liberal cause, and expressing the. hope that the republic will speedily triumph "over all her enemies. Alexander Hamilton Hayes, formerly connected with the press of California and at the East, died in New Orleans, November 21st, i while being carried into a hotel. The case of Campbell, indicted for the murder of Hardgrave, convicted of manslaughter over a year sines, and granted a new trial by the Supreme Court, is again on trial in the Fifteenth District Court. Advices from China report the bark Lucbrn, which was recently here, attacked by pirates between Hongkong and Japan, the Captain and family killed, and the vessel plundered and set on tire. The crew extinguished the fire and brought the vessel back to port. It is sus- 1 pected that there had been collusion between some parties on board and the pirate.--. The ship Westminster, from Shanghac, bound for London, ran on a reef and was plundered by pirates. The Wayanda is to take the place of the Shubrick as revenue cutter at this port, and the latter, after being repaired, will be turned over to the Lighthouse service. Lieut. Andrews, of the Shubrick, will be transferred to the Lincoln, now stationed on Puget Sound. Sales of stocks this evening were : Ophir, $170; Yellow Jacket, $1,245; Chollar, $216 ; Overman, $15 50 ; Sierra Nevada, $3; Confidence, $80; Imperial, $138; Bullion, $7 50.
