KLONDIKE RISKS.

An Insurance Policy That Was Promptly Paid hy the Pacific Mutual Company. The communication given below from Mrs. Rooney, whose husband, Stephen Rooney, died a few weeks ago in Alaska, requires no explanation: Mr. Thomas Fox, Manager Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company, Sacramento, California —Dear Sir: I received from you this day a check for $2,500, in payment of a policy held by my late husband, Stephen J. Rooney, in your company. Like many others, he went to the Klondike to better his condition, but sickness overcame him and he died on the 7th of this month. Proofs of death were furnished to your Company on the L'Sth inst., and one day thereafter, on the 2!>th inst., your company sent its check for the full amount of this policy. Such action is commendable and adding greatly to the high esteem in which I always held the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company. Inasmuch as there may be insurance companies that do not look favorably upon risks in the Klondike, and as there may possibly be some that would obstruct the payments of death claims fiom that region, it is right for me to point to your company with a feeling of satisfaction and of pride, as it is a home company. What the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company has done for me and my family, it will unquestionably do for others, and it seems to me that it should be an honor to be or to become a policy holder in this company. Thanking you and your company in behalf of myself and children, I am, respectfully yours. MARY JOSEPHINE ROONEY. Sacramento, Cal., March .'{lst. *
