TEN KILLED BY AVALANCHE IN MONO Gigantic Snowslidc Destroys HydroElectric Co. Plant at Jordan, Burying Victims Many Feet and Demolishing Homes of Employes

Reno, March 9. —Nine men and one woman were killed and the Hydro Electric Company's plant at Jordan, Mono county, was practically demolished by a gigantic snowsllde which tore down the mountain side Tuesday night. A dozen mining camps in California have been put out of commission as a result of the accident. Heavy snow in the Higli Sierras caused great drifts to form. When one of these broke loose and began to roll down the mountain it gathered speed and accumulated until with a gigantic roar it swept down over the houses of the employes of the Electric Co,, and destroyed part of the plant. The houses were ground into kindling wood, and the victims hurled deep in the snow.
