Coronado Citizen was founded November 4, 1937. The owner and publisher was Dolphin T. Westmoreland; its office was located at 949 Orange Avenue. The Coronado Citizen newspaper published every Thursday. After the United States entered WWII, both newspapers, Coronado Citizen and Coronado Journal and The Coronado Strand sought consolidation. On April 2, 1942, Coronado Journal and The Coronado Strand merged with Coronado Citizen. Named Coronado Journal And Coronado Citizen, the publisher was Laurence P. Priddy; its office was located at 915 Orange Avenue. The Coronado Journal And Coronado Citizen was a weekly publication, issued every Thursday.
