A SILVER LUNCH

Judge Van Dyke Entertains Senators

Jones and White Yesterday at the Silver Kepublican club an enjoyable lunch was given by Judge Waiter L. Van Dyke, associate justice of the state supreme court-elect, in honor of Senator John P. Jones of Nevada and Senator S. M. White of this state.

The tables were spread in the dining room of the club, and every seat was filled with loyal and enthusisatic silver men who hail come to honor the staunch defenders oi the white metal. Senator Jones is no stranger to this city, and is known throughout the United tSates as one of the ablest authorities in this country on the financial question. His speech in the senate on the silver question is a complete treatise on the subject, as he stood the question of the opposition for six days and answered every objection advanced on the subject. The lunch was interspersed not wifu speeches, but with suggestions as to further work and organization for the battle ci 1900. There was no question but that \V. J. Dryan would be the party leader, and from the expressions of the convictions cf the different states during the past six months it was evident that, the silver champion was as strong in the hearts of the people as ever.

Each of the union parties was represented at the board, and all were agreed that ft was to be one party iv the next fight and not two or three.

Among those present, besides the gentlemen named, were Walter Traslt, Judge E. 11. Lamme, Assemblyman William Mead, E. L. Hutchison, W. A. Spalding and Thos. E. Gibbon.
