Arrived, brig Firefly, from Tahiti, and steamer Idaho, from Portland. Annie Meagher, who shot at her husband, between whom and herself there is a divorce suit pending, was held on trial lor assault to murder to-day. ' Lumber dealers arrested for misdemeanor in piling lumber on the sidewalks of Steuart street, to-day pleaded statute limitations, claiming they had occupied the street undisturbed so long, they had acquired title thereto. Judge Sawyer said this question belonged to the District Courts. He would dismiss all the defendants on a nominal fine of three dollars each, pending the decision of the question in the Court above. A curious question has arisen in the Courts here. One Linnehan, convicted a year since of robbing a Chinaman, was sentenced to the State Prison. The Supreme Court overruled the decision on the ground of the inadmissibility of Chinese testimony. He was discharged to-day. Meantime his wife had got a divorce, married another man, and obtained possession of bis property. Linnehan now proposes to have the divorce set aside, procure restoration of his property and prosecute his wife for bigamy. Lazarus Moses, sometimes designated as "Fagin Keyer," of a Pacific street secondhandgoods store, against which the police have long had a prejudice, was again arrested to-day for purchasing stolen goods. Cook was not present, but it is understood that he will be on band to speak tomorrow.
